Laszlo Strange knows neither his real name nor his origins. He grew up in the abbeys orphanage and, for as long as he could remember, had dreamed of a wondrous city lost in the deserts, inhabited by strange beasts and a brave army. Something happened in that city two hundred years ago, and it seemed to vanish from the face of the earth, losing its true name now it is called The Weeping. Eventually, the junior librarian Strenge is given a golden opportunity to join the retinue of Eril-Fane, nicknamed the Godslayer the ruler of the mysterious city in the company of eminent scholars from various countries. Their aim is to solve the problem of the Weeping, which Eril-Fain keeps secret from the rest of the group. In the city, answers to his questions await Laszlo, but even more mysteries. Will the boy ultimately be able to save the city from the disaster that has befallen it? Who is the blue-skinned girl who appeared to him in his dream? And finally, who is Laszlo himself?
