Sometimes fate takes people apart to bring them back together in a strange and bizarre way, in the midst of war and a shattered city. Adelina left the town as a young woman, open to challenges and full of hope, not beautiful and not like her peers. A few decades later, she returns to her parents' house in the suburbs of Kyiv from a different, American life. Some of the childhood friends have changed, some have remained the same, and some will be changed by the ever-approaching war. They will live through a warm summer and a terrible February together to realise that the never line drawn one day is worthless in the face of life and death. And everything will turn out the way it was meant to be, because time pays back its debt. After all, what are fifty years of loneliness compared to eternity?
