Spring of 1909. Kyiv investigator Platon Chechel exposes the brutal murderer of young girls - the daughter of a secret adviser from St. Petersburg. But the young lady dies under the same circumstances as her victims, so influential relatives accuse Chechel of slander. For society, Plato becomes an exile.
