The Nurse Educator Perceived Competencies and Qualifications

With today's increasing number of retiring nurse faculty, nursing programs are faced more than ever with the task of searching for qualified replacements. Adding to this, nurse faculty enter into new positions with varying degree types, which often pose challenges to the respective nursing programs. As a result, nursing programs have difficulty assessing individual needs and providing the appropriate guidance for entry-level faculty. This book offers insight into the self-perceptions of new and experienced faculty regarding his or her entry-level competencies and qualifications upon obtaining a new academic position. Ultimately, with an understanding of the newly hired faculty's self- perceptions, nursing programs will be better equipped to mentor, advance, and retain new faculty.
